About The Author

Russ Lanier was born and raised in Statesboro, Georgia. He is a graduate of Georgia Southern University, and he is a certified public accountant and partner in a local accounting firm.

Russ is an active member in many facets of the Statesboro community. His passions include spending time with his wife Joy and his daughter Ashlyn, being involved in church, acting in local theater productions, and performing throughout the Southeast as a member of an Elvis tribute band.

His greatest passion, however, is watching Ashlyn light up the stage as a dancer. Russ was inspired to write when he realized how much love was shared in the simple act of reading a book to a child.

"To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose unto heaven."

Ecclesiastes 3:1

About The Illustrator

At an early age, Whitney Lanier displayed a talent and love for art. Her creative drawing drew the attention of family and friends.

Although Russ Lanier (no relation) authored the book in late 2004, it was not until 2010 that he decided to search for the right person to create the illustrations.

When he saw Whitney's work, Russ felt confident that she was the artist to bring The Caterpillar Cowboy to life. Her beautiful illustrations are a clear reminder that God's plan is according to His timetable, and not ours. Whitney was only nine years old when the book was written.
